- art, exhibition, landscapes, Paola Staccioli, paolo Staccioli, Scandicci, sculpture, Tuscany
- 29 September 2017
September 30th – December 3rd, 2017 Piazzale della Resistenza Scandicci (Florence)
The town of Scandicci pays homage to its fellow citizens Paolo and Paola Staccioli, father and daughter, with a project curated by Marco Tonelli and realized within the ‘Toscanaincontemporanea 2017’ event. Paolo Staccioli’s large bronze and ceramic artworks will invade spaces in the outskirts of town, the Tramway station and the New Center by Richard Rogers. In the Auditorium hall will be placed a wooden platform crowded by the forty ceramic luster painted figures by Paolo and by 15 groups of objects in enameled ceramics by Paola.
Paolo and Paola Staccioli both work with the same material, ceramics, but in different poetic fashions. Scandicci, their native town and where they live and work, pay them homage opening for the first time its buildings and its most representative center to contemporary art. Large bronze sculpture by Paolo Staccioli will welcome the arriving and departing passengers at the Tramway to and from Florence stop: male and female warriors, horses on wheels, also made of bronze, will be guarding the large plaza in front of the Nuovo Centro built in 2013 following the design of architect Richard Rogers and will accompany the visitors until the great hall of the Auditorium where a wooden platform is installed with forty ceramic luster painted figures by Paolo and by 15 groups of objects in enameled ceramics by Paola.
The exhibition project is curated by Marco Tonelli, promoted by the Comune di Scandicci, with the contribution of the Regione Toscana and of the Città Metropolitana di Firenze, in cooperation with the Fondazione Museo di Montelupo Fiorentino and the Centro Pecci of Prato. The project is realized within the “Toscanaincontemporanea 2017” event.
