Since 1979 Maria Grazia Gazzarri has been devoting herself to alabaster handiwork. Her favorite traditional technique, together with the openwork, is the graffiti, strictly handmade with small “little irons” (ferrini), especially made by an ironman. Over time Maria Grazia’s work has evolved to the restoration of alabaster and ceramic artifacts, ceramics being another material on which Maria Grazia experiments with various techniques, like painting. In her two workshops where she performs her craft, it is possible to attend demonstrations of working with alabaster (by appointment also for groups).
The workshop-store is in Volterra in Via Anditi di Docciola 4 and it is open every day from 10:30AM to 1:00PM and from 3:00PM to 8:00PM, from March 15th to October 31st; in the winter months it is open with a reduced schedule.
