How to travel the itinerary?

How long is the itinerary?

Wine, Olive Oil and the products of the Maremmana Land: between tradition and innovation.

Maremma: a land painted with the silver of the olive trees and the multi-color vineyards that change with the changing of the seasons.

In Maremma it is easy to find an excellent extra virgin olive oil that owes its success mainly to the special features of the territory where it is grown: the environmental difficulties that make it hard to mechanize the harvesting of olives, the precocious harvest and to the short period of preservation of the olives. The result is an oil of very good quality, with a pleasant taste and with very low acidity levels.

The olive tree, a typical plant of the Maremma hills that was already known and worked by the ancient Etruscans, is certainly one of the most representative gastronomic symbols of the Maremma land, along with its wines.

The Morellino di Scansano wine is exclusively produced on the hilly belt of the province of Grosseto, between the Ombrone and the Albenga rivers, located in the municipalities of Scansano, Manciano, Magliano in Toscana, Grosseto, Campagnatico, Semproniano and Roccalbenga. The last few years, the Morellino di Scansano has been getting more and more attention as one of the most important wines in Tuscany and one of the best typical products of the Maremma.

The climate and the territory of Grosseto are the ideal conditions also for types of specific plants like the Lycium Barbarum: that is why since 2013, in the Maremma area of Grosseto  we find the cultivation of the Goji berries, known as the fountaing of youth fruit.
