Marzia Etna is a master artisan in the production of papier-mâché objects and set designs. Besides paper, the materials she uses in her productions are clay, iron, wood and wheat glue. For the past thirty-four years she has been making works for the Carnival of Viareggio in the “Mascherate di Gruppo” (Group Masquerades) category. Her work is not limited to the Carnival: she has been collaborating to many projects over the years. Amongst them, we highlight the three-year long collaboration with the Comics National Museum in Lucca in setting up several exhibitions, like “Carosello” and “Galileo Galilei.” Moreover, for the City of Lucca, she has contributed to the set up of a Medieval exhibition with period characters made of papier-mâché as well as decorating Forte dei Marmi with 3 meter high Easter Eggs and
dressing the windows of a few shops and city streets with life-size characters (like Sig.ra Gradisca and the Mad Hatter). She has worked and currently works also for private clients making, among other things, papier mâché busts.
