Albo Mazzetti was born in Pienza on April 4, 1947, and currently lives and works in Montepulciano. Since 1966, he has been attending the Italian School of Mosaic, founded in 1947 right in Montepulciano under the guidance of Prof. Attilio Caroti, where he learned the art of mosaics from both the Roman and Byzantine periods. In 1975, along with two other mosaicist colleagues, Cimarosti and Sarchielli, he took over the same Mosaic Workshop 'Italian School of Mosaic.' Since then, they have created numerous mosaics in Italian and foreign churches, particularly in the United States; among the most important works, for Italy, we can mention all the mosaics of the Sanctuary of Tindari in Sicily and for America, a complete church with over 200 meters of mosaics in Lowell, Massachusetts. Significant works have also been done in California, in San Francisco, 'Oly Trinity Church,' and Greek Orthodox churches, all created based on sketches by the American painter Robert Andrews.
In 2005, he moved on his own to the new location on Via Dell’Opio nel Corso, 10, where he keeps the Poliziana mosaic tradition alive, continuing the work as an Artistic Mosaic Workshop and creating mosaic reproductions of famous painters and characteristic Tuscan landscapes.
