Luciano Landi was born in Florence in 1942 and attained his diploma in 1961 from the School of Art of Porta Romana in Florence. In 1965 he started to teach decoration on porcelain at Capodimonte. Since 1974 he has been running independently a Ceramic Art Studio in the historical centre of Florence where he experiments techniques and materials. In his workshop, which the artist loves to define “his dusty cavern”, works come to life that are characterised by a never trivial creativity, by an expert and ancient dexterity and, more specifically, by a skilful use of colour. His work is divided into two strands: the one-off pieces and the production. Several of his works have been illustrated in various magazines and others are displayed in museums. His production comprises little animals, which were designed in 1974 during lessons he gave to school parties at the International Ceramics Museum in Faenza, within the framework of the “Giocare con l'Arte” (Playing with Art) project, as well as other furnishing accessories that were relaunched in the late 70s.
