Marco Ricciardi at the School of Art of Volterra invented the first alabaster sweets, a production that for the past 30 years has been baking gastronomic delights made of stone. Between 1980 and 1990 he produced with his sister Maruska different lines of hand-painted giftware. In 1987 he won the Gremigni Prize as first place for design and manufacture with the " Telephone" object; in 1988 he won first place for making the "Homage to Roy Lichtenstein" by Borghesi. In 1992 he abandoned the trade fairs and intensified his cooperation with Lucia Niccolini; they opened a shop in the centre of Volterra (OASI'S), where his creations are available to a clientele who are prepared to receive attention catching provocations. In 2006 he won the competition "Chocolate Alabaster" and in 2008 he made the prize for the winner of the Astiludio, a Volterra event where the ancient traditions of flag throwing are revived. His works have been shown on: Magazine, Grazia, Gadget, Casa viva, Agriturismo. One of his works is exhibited at the Eco Museum of Alabaster. Currently he is working for the Opera Primaziale of Pisa on an alabaster tower, 1:25 scale.
